Inside Blue Skies
During our chat, I explained how Blue Skies is about embracing both the highs and lows of life. “This album is about growth, overcoming challenges, and finding hope,” I shared with Alí. The album blends indie folk with tropical rhythms and electronic vibes, giving it a fresh “Tropical Indie” sound that marks a new evolution in my music. I’m thrilled with how it turned out.
The Creative Process
We also discussed my songwriting process, and I opened up about how personal and vulnerable it can be. “These songs come from real, lived experiences,” I told Alí. “It wasn’t always easy to write them, but putting those feelings into music allowed me to understand and move through them.”

An Expert Team
Producer IFO and mixing engineer Carlos “Charlie” Santana have been key collaborators in shaping Séa Byrne’s sound. In 2019 my life fell apart. My sweet dear Mum Bridie, passed away after 5 years of illness. Her brightness left the world and I was left in darkness. They say “life goes on” but I thought, “how does it — go on?” My world had changed irreparably and my dreams and hopes seemed futile and pointless in comparison to the loss I felt.
I remember being in the midst of shock and grief when Julián, my husband, encouraged me to take a trip – to relax, and take my mind off things. So, quite randomly, and I don’t remember why, I flew to Colombia for a month and ended up learning Spanish in Cartagena, a beautiful city on the Caribbean coast. It was during this time I reflected upon life and took stock.
I started singing at the age of 8. I was on a scholarship for voice with the Leinster School of Music in Dublin until I was 16. Then I started playing guitar and writing my first songs. However, even though I was immersed in music, I kept my musical side to myself. I started a career in design and music was relegated to a pastime.
The loss of my Mum, the finality and its ramifications randomly propelled me back to my music. As “The Smiths” song goes “shyness is nice but it can stop you from doing all the things you want to.” I finally decided to release my music to the world. I had written and home recorded 2 full albums of material over the years – but both “Life Begins” and “Survival” remained on my shelf, like unpublished relics, hidden from the world. In my mind they were Acts 1 and 2 of a trilogy and I was compiling a 3rd album – which was going to be the finale!
As I sat in my rented apartment doing my Spanish homework, making pancakes and thinking about filling the void I decided to work on releasing my 1st song! On a whim I reached out to a local Colombian producer called IFO. We recorded *That’s Why I Love You.* a song with a happy message of love. I had realised that life is tough so I wanted to contribute something positive to the world. If I was to share my music – it should be honest and heartfelt.
So I continued working with IFO, remotely from Ireland, working on many songs together. I learned the craft of recording music, working with many talented people (through a global pandemic). I began to believe in myself as an artist, to share vulnerability and trust in others to help me actualise my vision.
My songs have been mixed and mastered by Charles Connolly in the UK and Thomas Juth in Sweden. In 2022 I moved to Puerto Vallarta in México and met Carllos Charlie Santana – who was a godsend. Together we worked over the course of a year finalising the album – he understood my “Tropical Indie” sound and elevated it, adding delicious refinements and we even created vignettes that capture the spirit of Latin American life.
So my soul searching turned out to be the beginning of an album and a 5 year journey transpired – which resulted in a collection of 14 songs and vignettes which I call *Blue Skies.* This album is an antidote to melancholy, a tonic for the lost and lonely, a movement towards self belief, and a thank you to all that have helped me along the way (and there have been many).
Overall the album brings a message of hope and love and the optimistic side of life that Bridie instilled in me – and to whom I dedicate this album. Gracias de corazón a Julián – who has been my unofficial manager: listening to countless demos, guiding me on which songs to select for release and enduring hours of me focusing on living my dream.
This journey has helped me overcome my darkest times and my deepest fears, using my intuition over my reason – to find a place of tropical healing. I hope you get some of this value from the album too. Ultimately we must not stagnate, we must move forward with our best memories and for sure blue skies will come again.

Hola a todos! I am amped to announce the release of *Huracán* my 11th song (18th release) on 08 Nov 2024 (Previewed on this website 04 October 2024).
*Huracán* is the 1st song I wrote about México’s since living here! I started writing this song back in Hurricane season 2022 after experiencing these ferocious weather events for the 1st time in Puerto Vallarta. This song reflects my new life in the tropics, living and adapting to the palpable natural forces that are unpredictable yet common here.
*Huracán* is about not giving up when life hits you with overwhelming situations. If it doesn’t kill you it makes you stronger. This song is also a homage to the unique local terrain, nature, and ancient local cultures found in this part of the world. The hubris of human endeavour seems simplistic and futile when contrasted to the majestic, overpowering backdrop of mother nature. We must weather the storm and find ourselves a sense of peace – and quiet!
The song title *Huracán* es en Español (ovi!) on purpose. As I become more comfortable speaking Spanish over time I’m starting to sprinkle more multilingual lines into my songwriting. To this end it’s no coincidence *Huracán* is the 1st song proper, the cherry on top and final song written to be included, on my new album *Blue Skies* launching 06 Dec 2024. It encapsulates the intensity of change the storm brings until the calm finally arrives which is a major theme of the album.
Recorded in Mexico & Colombia over 2024 months, *Huracán* was produced by IFO, Cartagena, then mixed /mastered by @prosantana.mx Puerto Vallarta who also added a whole bunch of extra instrumentation and rhythms that elevated it into the stratosphere and it sounds wicked!

*Huracán* es la 1ª canción que escribí sobre México desde que vivo aquí! Comencé a escribir esta canción en la temporada de huracanes de 2022 después de experimentar estos feroces eventos climáticos por 1ª vez en Puerto Vallarta. Esta canción refleja mi nueva vida en los trópicos, viviendo y adaptándome a las fuerzas naturales palpables que son impredecibles pero comunes aquí.
*Huracán* se trata de no rendirse cuando la vida te golpea con situaciones abrumadoras. Si no te mata, te hace más fuerte. Esta canción también es un homenaje al terreno local único, la naturaleza y las antiguas culturas locales que se encuentran en esta parte del mundo. La arrogancia del esfuerzo humano parece simplista e inútil cuando se contrasta con el majestuoso y abrumador telón de fondo de la madre naturaleza. Debemos capear la tormenta y encontrar una sensación de paz, ¡y tranquilidad!
El título de la canción *Huracán* está en Español (¡ovi!) a propósito. A medida que me siento más cómodo hablando español con el tiempo, empiezo a espolvorear más líneas multilingües en mis composiciones. En este sentido, no es casualidad que *Huracán* sea la 1ª canción propiamente dicha, la guinda del pastel y la última canción escrita para ser incluida, en mi nuevo álbum *Blue Skies* que se lanzará el 6 de diciembre de 2024. Encapsula la intensidad del cambio que trae la tormenta hasta que finalmente llega la calma, que es un tema importante del álbum.

The songs were recorded and produced in Ireland by me and Colombia by IFO producciones. Then, they were mixed/mastered in México by the super talented Prosantana Estudio Creativo, where we honed the “Séa Byrne Sound” – and it’s banging!
When I started releasing tracks professionally back in 2020, I had know idea how my music would develop over time, but in retrospect I realised that there is a major beach vibe running through my songs. Song Meanings
Dancing on the Beach
Dancing on the Beach is a celebration of the new generation and how they righteously and readily stand up for causes of equity, equality and human rights. Many of us have been through, or are going through, struggles of transformation which can be very challenging. This song encourages our courageous young activists, thought leaders and trailblazers to take a moment to reflect and cherish the work they have already accomplished towards positive change in ourselves and in wider society — and to just dance, with our loved ones, on the beach! 🙂
Escape
The songwriting on Escape departs from indie pop towards a looser, larger, and more relaxed sound, endeavouring to honour my R&B /Soul influences. This echos the song’s theme about fleeing the rat-race to focus on our true passions in life – just like my own progress as an artist. In many ways this song represents the key theme of the last few years, my journey moving away from Ireland to live in tropical Mexico, its story summing up my mindset. In fact I nearly called the album Escape as it so aptly encompasses all the songs. It’s title track level!
Fortune
First and foremost Fortune is a feel good love song that will get you dancing. Originally, this was my second release as Séa Byrne with the intention to blow away the cobwebs and deliver a banger of a tropical tune to the world. It’s an upbeat love song about feeling lucky and thankful to the universe for finding a special love. In fact, Fortune is my go-to song when asked to play one of my own compositions live. The result of these ambitions is a catchy, boppy tune – perfect for the last week of Summer!
Good vibes all around
So call an amigo, gather some mates, go on a group outing – to the park, to the pub or preferably to the beach and celebrate your uniqueness, originality and all that you have accomplished. Be thankful for the collaborations and challenges that bring you to your composition – like the Vibing EP is for me.

El EP Vibing se llama así porque sus temas tratan sobre vibrar con amigos, compañeros y tu gente, donde he tenido algunos de mis mejores momentos de conexión, diversión y celebración. Este EP es una reflexión sobre todos los maravillosos momentos que he disfrutado con familiares y amigos en hogares, pubs y playas a lo largo de los años – se trata de comunidad – y las personas que enfrentan las luchas y desafíos de la vida con una sonrisa, un baile o una fiesta completa.

Las canciones fueron grabadas y producidas en Irlanda por mí y en Colombia por IFO producciones. Luego, fueron mezclados/masterizados en México por el súper talentoso Prosantana Estudio Creativo, donde perfeccionamos el “Séa Byrne Sound” – ¡y está golpeando!
Cuando comencé a lanzar temas profesionalmente en 2020, tenía una idea de cómo se desarrollaría mi música con el tiempo, pero en retrospectiva me di cuenta de que hay una gran vibra playera en mis canciones. Entonces, para este EP de Vibing decidí seleccionar 3 de mis canciones que son perfectas para un día de relax con tus amigos a la playa.
Significados de las canciones
Bailando en la playa (Dancing on the Beach)
Bailando en la playa es una celebración de la nueva generación y de cómo defienden con rectitud y facilidad las causas de la equidad, la igualdad y los derechos humanos. Muchos de nosotros hemos pasado o estamos pasando por luchas de transformación que pueden ser muy desafiantes. Esta canción alienta a nuestros valientes jóvenes activistas, líderes de opinión y pioneros a tomarse un momento para reflexionar y apreciar el trabajo que ya han realizado para lograr un cambio positivo en nosotros mismos y en la sociedad en general, ¡y simplemente bailar con nuestros seres queridos en la playa! 🙂
Escape (Escape)
La composición de Escape se aleja del indie pop hacia un sonido más suelto, amplio y relajado, tratando de honrar mis influencias de R&B/Soul. Esto hace eco del tema de la canción sobre huir de la carrera de ratas para centrarnos en nuestras verdaderas pasiones en la vida, al igual que mi propio progreso como artista. En muchos sentidos, esta canción representa el tema clave de los últimos años, mi viaje alejándome de Irlanda para vivir en el México tropical, y su historia resume mi forma de pensar. De hecho, casi titulé el álbum Escape porque abarca muy bien todas las canciones. ¡Está al nivel de la canción principal!
Fortuna (Fortune)
Ante todo, Fortune es una canción de amor para sentirte bien que te hará bailar. Originalmente, este era mi segundo lanzamiento como Séa Byrne con la intención de quitar las telarañas y ofrecer una melodía tropical al mundo. Es una canción de amor alegre sobre sentirse afortunado y agradecido con el universo por encontrar un amor especial. De hecho, Fortune es mi canción preferida cuando me piden que toque una de mis propias composiciones en vivo. El resultado de estas ambiciones es una melodía pegadiza y alegre, ¡perfecta para la última semana de verano!
Buenas vibraciones por todos lados
Así que llama a un amigo, reúne algunos amigos, sal de excursión en grupo: al parque, al pub o preferiblemente a la playa y celebra tu singularidad, originalidad y todo lo que has logrado. Agradece las colaboraciones y los desafíos que te traen a tu composición, como lo es el EP Vibing para mí.

The Loving EP is named so because its themes are all about love for other people and dips into topics of nostalgia, family, passion, partnership and love. This EP is an homage to all the people who have loved me and helped me to become the person I am today. It features 3 songs:

The songs were recorded and produced in Ireland by me and Colombia by IFO producciones. Then, they were mixed/mastered in México by the super talented Prosantana Estudio Creativo, where we honed the “Séa Byrne Sound” – and it’s cosmic!
When I started releasing tracks professionally back in 2020, I wanted to bring positivity to the world through my music. I decided to hold back on my more melancholic material in order to bring some light to an often absurdly atrocious world. Now, years later the Loving EP is a timely antidote to the ongoing narrative of hate we see across the media and in many conflicts in this so called modern world.
Song Meanings
Home
I’ve had the privilege of living around the world including the US, Ireland and now Mexico. So my definition of *Home* is very open plan. Although I treasure each of these places and yearn to return to them often, for me “home is where the heart is” – where the people who I care about are. So my song Home is all about the love I have form my partner – no matter where it is we are located: “You’re the one who makes me feel at home.”
Loves Of Your Lives
This is a love song to my parents who were Dubliners coming of age in a beautifully hopeful era – more innocent times. They had high hopes for the future – and this is where I get my relentless optimism. They also loved to sing, dance and be happy – without alcohol! They loved each other so much and showed me how to be my best self – so this song sings their praises and reminds me of them whenever I sing it. It’s love eternal!
Why I Love You
This is where it all started – my first song released across music platforms – back in 2020. I recorded the vocal in Cartagena, Colombia and I was so insecure about it. Now, I listen back and think it’s one of my best ones (I hadn’t recorded *Believe In Yourself* yet). The topic of this song is the love I have for my partner who has stood by me through my weakest, most vulnerable, and delusional moments! 🙂 It’s a “muchas gracias!”
A Loving Story
So relax by the tropical waterfall in the jungle, reflect upon the people who positively influence, support and inspire you. Celebrate the people around you who love you through their words, behaviours and actions. Create a truly Loving story for yourself – you are one of a kind and deserve it!

Cuando comencé a lanzar temas profesionalmente en 2020, quería traer positividad al mundo a través de mi música. Decidí abstenerme de mi material más melancólico para traer algo de luz a un mundo a menudo absurdamente atroz. Ahora, años después, Loving EP es un antídoto oportuno a la narrativa actual de odio que vemos en los medios y en muchos conflictos en este llamado mundo moderno.
Significados de las canciones
Hogar (Home)
He tenido el privilegio de vivir en todo el mundo, incluidos Estados Unidos, Irlanda y ahora México. Entonces mi definición de Hogar es muy abierta. Aunque atesoro cada uno de estos lugares y anhelo volver a ellos con frecuencia, para mí “el hogar es donde está el corazón”, donde están las personas que me importan. Así que mi canción Home trata sobre el amor que tengo por mi pareja, sin importar dónde nos encontremos: “Tú eres quien me hace sentir como en casa”.
Amores de vuestras vidas (Loves of Your Lives)
Esta es una canción de amor para mis padres, que eran dublineses que crecieron en una era hermosa y esperanzadora: tiempos más inocentes. Tenían grandes esperanzas en el futuro y de ahí proviene mi optimismo implacable. También les encantaba cantar, bailar y ser felices, ¡sin alcohol! Se amaban mucho y me mostraron cómo ser lo mejor de mí, por eso esta canción los elogia y me los recuerda cada vez que la canto. ¡Es amor eterno!
Porque te amo (Why I Love You)
Aquí es donde empezó todo, mi primera canción lanzada en plataformas de música, allá por 2020. Grabé la voz en Cartagena, Colombia, y estaba muy inseguro al respecto. Ahora, lo escucho y creo que es uno de mis mejores (todavía no había grabado Believe In Yourself). El tema de esta canción es el amor que tengo por mi pareja que ha estado a mi lado en mis momentos más débiles, vulnerables y delirantes! 🙂 Es un “¡muchas gracias!”
Una historia de amor
Así que relájate junto a la cascada tropical en la jungla, reflexiona sobre las personas que te influyen, apoyan e inspiran positivamente.
