Liberation began as Arrabella — a deeply personal song written to someone trapped in an oppressive situation. The protagonist, Arrabella, represents anyone enduring hardships, from domestic violence victims to those bullied or marginalized by society. The song calls for action: “put up a fight”, rise above, and reclaim power.

As the song evolved, I found myself singing “I, Rebela!” instead of “Arrabella!”, signaling a shift. What started as a personal letter transformed into a broader anthem for self-liberation and resistance. You can hear the original Arrabella demo on my SoundCloud, showcasing the song’s evolution from a personal narrative to a universal message of empowerment.

Original artwork for *Arabella* demo recorded back in 2012:

This track marks a return to my Goth roots, after five years of exploring healing themes in Blue SkiesLiberation introduces a bold, dark sound with atmospheric layers and raw energy. Produced by Daniel Aceves at Sonorama Records in Guadalajara, Mexico, and mixed/mastered by Carlos “Charlie” Santana at Prosantana in Puerto Vallarta, it departs from my soulful “tropical Indie” style, embracing something much edgier.

In today’s climate, Liberation is more relevant than ever. As our rights to protest and speak out are threatened, it’s crucial to raise our voices. “Now it’s time to shed a skin, take back your life from worrying,” the song declares. Facing fears and fighting for freedom are more important than ever. “The day you turn to face your fears, your liberation evaporates the tears.”

The music video, filmed in Jalisco, Mexico, perfectly mirrors the song’s message. Its powerful landscapes reflect the journey of breaking free, both personally and socially, showing that we all have the strength to reclaim our lives.
